Blue State of Mind
Blue State of Mind is a newly formed blues band dedicated to performing the music of blues legend, Howlin’ Wolf. Born in Mississippi in 1910 as Chester Arthur Burnett, Howlin’ Wolf later moved to Chicago and made blues history as being one of the most iconic blues artists of his time. Playing guitar, harmonica and singing with his trademark booming voice, the “Wolf” performed a variety of different blues styles that paved a path for up coming rock and blues artists. His music left an imprint on groups such as the Rolling Stones, the Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac (the blues band). He also was a major influence on England’s finest guitarists, such as Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Peter Green and of course, Jimi Hendrix.
Frank Leto, who started his musical career in Detroit Michigan as a blues artist, formed Blue State of Mind. As young man, Frank moved to the U.S. Virgin Islands to teach music. While there his musical horizons were broadened, heavily influenced by calypso, reggae, Latin and Brazilian music. Frank is an accomplished percussionist and world music composer. He has several albums featuring his unique blend of musical styles. Blue State of Mind is a “full circle” for Frank, finally returning to his early roots as a musician.
